Norway/Sweden: Earth hour

Earth Hour is the world's biggest climate campaign led by WWF. Today hundreds of millions people all around the world will switch off their lights for an hour to send a powerful message for action on climate change. The Royal Palace in Oslo and the Crown Prince Couple residence in Skaugum will have their lights turned off from 8:30 pm. Their swedish colleagues will do the same thing at The Royal Palace in Stockholm, Drottningholm Palace, Chinese Pavilion, Gripsholms Palace & Rosendals Palace.

But not only that. Days before the swedish media informed that Prince Daniel & Prince Carl Philip of Sweden decided to challange each other. They will both lower the heating temperatures at their homes if the other does so too.

Now also Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway decided to challenge her husband Crown Prince Haakon of Norway via Twitter.

"And I hereby challenge my husband, if you can turn off the Mac, I promise to cycle to work once every two weeks."

Haakon took upon the challenge and asked her in response if he may join her on the bike ride.

Danish royals?!

Since there was a comment asking about the missing coverage of Danish Royals I think it's fair to let everyone know what's going on. In the near future, I don't plan to cover the Danish Royals anymore.

This is a step I was considering for a while and finally decided that it's the right thing to do during the visit of Prince of Wales & Duchess of Cornwall in Denmark. I think blogging should be fun, but lately I didn't have fun while following the Danish Royals.

For the time being the old posts will stay in place. Maybe in the future when I decide that this step is permanent, they might be removed.

Sweden: Interview with Madeleine

Swedish Royal Court website published an interview with Princess Madeleine of Sweden. The interview took place probably in the first half of March.

About Estelle
She is really a small miracle - like all babies. It's amazing to be an aunt and I'm so proud and happy on Victoria's and Daniel's behalf. I don't know how many times I've been to Haga in the last days, but it's been incredibly hard to tear myself away each time.

About her work for Childhood
I am a project manager at the World Childhood Foundation and work at Childhood's U.S. office in New York. Right now I'm a part of a team that prepares a big campaign, but also a charity dinner and seminar on the next day. This will take place in May and we are cooperating, inter alia, with Nasdaq National Market and a number of other companies.

About her plans in spring
I'll of course return to Stockholm for Estelle's christening in May. The closest in schedule lays my project trip to Texas. Charlotte Landin who's a director and Chilhood and me will go to visit several projects. There I'll have also the oportunity to meet Laura Bush, who like me has strong commitment to social issues.

About her staying in New York
During the next year I will continue to live and work in New York. That I now live in the U.S. instead of Sweden does not mean that my role as Princess of Sweden is changing, but I will continue to work for Sweden in the USA.

You can read the whole interview in swedish, HERE.
